Chris Douglas has existed in the dark outer reaches of electronic music for 20 years. His music is abstract and labyrinthine but also forward-gazing and quite often astoundingly beautiful. Throughout a long career using different monikers (among others O.S.T., Dalglish and Rook Vallade), the Berlin resident, nomadic pioneer has explored – and partially developed – genres like IDM, dance-hostile techno and dark ambient. Dalglish takes us on a journey through a sinister borderland of syncopated rhythms and industrial darkness. The nightmarish soundtrack skitters and leaps chaotically like evil insects in the underground where the sunlight is unable to penetrate. Douglas recorded his first EP for Detroit-based Switch Records in 1992 under the name O.S.T. In 2003 he was invited to perform at the All Tomorrows Parties festival in the UK, curated by Autechre.
