DJ Day (Damien Beebe) is a DJ, producer and musician born 1975 in Palm Springs, California. He has released various singles as a solo artist, most notably Four Hills, which was nominated "Track of the Year" by Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show on BBC Radio 1. His second album, Land Of 1000 Chances, comes out Feb. 12, 2013 on Piecelock 70. Day has toured the world as a solo artist and with fellow musicians Aloe Blacc, Exile and People Under the Stairs. He recently embarked on a European tour to support his upcoming release. The new album is currently in rotation with top influential DJ’s such as Jon Oliver on the Main Ingredient Show, Cosmo Baker (The Rub) and Gilles Peterson's BBC Radio broadcasts. Gilles Peterson has opened his show two times with the same Day track and, on Sunday Feb 3rd, invited Day to do an exclusive interview and mix—to be aired worldwide the week prior to the album release. Day's new track Mama Shelter is also being featured as KCRW's "Top Tune of the Day" on Feb. 6th, and the man has been nominated for Song of the Year awards both by the BBC and The Village Voice. His music has been licensed for commercials by DC Shoes, Red Bull Music Academy, Rane/Serato, and numerous full length feature films. Currently, Day is working with Thes One on the management and expansion of the artist collective Piecelock 70 and holds a weekly night at the renowned Ace Hotel in Palm Springs.
