Byron Johnston

Byron Johnston is gaining increasing acclaim for his unique brand of flamenco fusion and highly original artistic approach to guitar performance. He is rapidly becoming a rising star of the acoustic guitar in the UK music scene following the release of his debut album ‘Oceano’ which fuses elements of contemporary, world and flamenco guitar music and is currently available on iTunes. His live gigs offer fearsome displays during which he leaves no part of his guitar unplayed. As a soloist he creates the effect of percussion, the ocean and many other sounds on the body of his guitars. Extensive gigs have found Byron playing all over the UK in the past two years. Highlights for 2006-7 include The Royal Albert Hall, The Clapham Grande, The Brighton Festival, Guilfest, The Queen Elizabeth Hall (Southbank Centre) for The London Guitar Festival, The Guildford International Music Festival, The Windsor Arts Centre, and live on both BBC and Channel Four Radio. As of 2008, Byron Johnston is recording a joint album with the violinist Anna Phoebe, with whom he is appearing at a number of events. The music is a sensual mix of Latin-inspired compositions by both artists and the odd special arrangement of a classical favourite. Live gig dates and pics can be previewed at his myspace page. http://www.myspace.com/themusicofbyron “Byron Johnston has developed a unique style of playing.
