Burhan Šaban was born in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia, then Yugoslavia and now resides and works in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Turkey. At fourteen years old he mastered the Kur'an and became known as a hafiz, a title given to someone who is well versed in the sacred text. Throughout the years, he's developed his singing career, mainly in the religious Islamic songs called ilahije (ilahi in Turkish). In 1990, he released his first solo album with ilahi songs sung in Turkish. Since then he's released several more albums with traditional Islamic songs, including the 1998 album "Ja sam vjetar zaljubljeni" and the 2002 album "Draga moja Džemila." In 2006, he released an album with a more mainstream pop sound, but with overtly religious themes. Read more on Last.fm.
