With the raw, powerful and bluesy voice of front man Nick Pilgrim and the rhythmic powerhouse of Tom Eivers as constants, Blue Origin have always attempted to combine the edge and elegance of modern rock with the charisma, swagger and feeling of traditional Blues and Classic Rock. This duo remain a consistant element in a band with a history of many guises. Most recently Blue Origin Mk. III featured darkly seductive gothic melodies and pounding basslines, designed to establish Blue Origin as a real presence on the Stoke music scene. This resulted in headline gigs at both the Sugamill and the Underground: Stoke's premier un-signed music venues. This pipe-dream line-up was not to last however. Yet the band did not quite fold. After a 6 month break to drink copious volumes of alcohol, gather inspiration, find new members (oh, and finish university). The band return. Now in their forth incarnation, the band have become more focused and determined than ever, aiming to achieve all that has eluded them previously. The focus is dedication. Dedication to the fan-base, and an uncompromising dedication to good quality rock music itself. New members Jim Cartlidge and Dan Higgins (the bassist who's more metal than the remains of a demolition derby) epitomise this outlook, but as always there is only one way to measure such a quality.
