Black Light Co. was founded spring 2005 with one basic idea: to become a project loosely built from a core of musicians from Skellefteå in Northern Sweden. Two shows were played as a trio already during the first three weeks of existence and the reception was according to themselves: inspiring. During April a few more musicians were tried but without any success until May was drawing close and a bunch of shows along the northern coast. After two productive weeks with intense rehearsals and two new members being added the band became a real band. Five people strong. Rumours thus for a long time said that there were plans for expansion. But who could blame them when they claimed bands as Lambchop & Sophia to be the ultimate band compositions? These rumours have proven to be both true and utterly false. A debut-EP was recorded (with Magnus Ericsson of Dynamo Chapel producing) early June and Black Light Co. was back to a trio, but this time the live-setup is 7 people strong and therefore they once again have to be seen as a loosely built project. How many and who they will be during their next show we will have to leave unsaid... The music was from the start a mixture of Red House Painters, Pedro the Lion & Songs: Ohia. Without sounding like any of them for the matter. It was a little Alt. Country, a doseage Lo-Fi Rock and a little Singer/Songwriter. But most of all it was Black Light Co. In november 2005 a 2nd session in the studio led to, amongst others, 'Stuck on You' and 'Sunday Morning' with a completely new direction to the sound. Thicker, more brooding and well... just better. Another studio session in september 06 have also meant a further growth of that specific sound w/ the two most recent tracks on here: 'Loneliest When You Kiss Me' and '5:am'. The band is now writing to record another session of songs early 07 andthey are looking into different options to get an album out in 2007. The goal is to get it out there not only in Sweden but also in the UK & US. Read more on Last.fm.
