Band of the Black Watch

The Black Watch is the is the 42nd Foot regiment of the British Army. It is also the oldest Highland regiment in the British Army, originating in the 1720s. A second battalion was added in 1758 to its strength. which subsequently became a separate regiment, the 73rd Foot, before the two were finally re-united in 1881 to form The Black Watch. the Band of The Black Watch came to the end of its distinguished existence when it became amalgamated into The Highland Band under Options for Change in early 1994.
