(There are two artists called Gary Clark) 1. Gary Clark, born 10 March 1962, is a singer, musician, songwriter and producer. He first came to prominence as lead singer and guitarist of the band Danny Wilson. He formed the band in Dundee, Scotland in 1986 with his brother Kit on keyboards and friend Ged Grimes on bass. They produced smooth, intelligent, Steely Dan-influenced pop similar in style to contemporaries such as Deacon Blue and Prefab Sprout. Danny Wilson disbanded in February 1990 after two albums and the hit single Mary's Prayer. He has since worked as a solo artist, band member, and songwriter and producer for other artists. He recorded a soul-tinged solo album, Ten Short Songs about Love, in April 1993. Clark then teamed up with Eric Pressly, Neill MacColl and Matt Lang to form the band King L. They released the Neil Young-influenced album, Great Day for Gravity, in 1995. Clark's next project was the band Transister, a three-piece with Pressly and vocalist Keeley Hawkes. They produced a self-titled album in 1997. Clark now lives and works mainly in London with wife and manager Alison. He almost exclusively writes and/or produces for other people. He has worked with Natalie Imbruglia (he co-wrote and produced almost all of her album White Lilies Island). He has also collaborated with Liz Phair, Skin, Melanie C, The Bible, Lloyd Cole, David McAlmont, Julia Fordham, Alex Parks and Eddi Reader. His songs have been recorded by artists as diverse as k.d lang, Rachel Stevens and Emma Bunton. Clark compositions also regularly turn up on movie soundtracks including There's Something About Mary, Nightwatch, Batman Forever, Charlie's Angels, Wild Things, Mr Deeds, Jawbreaker, The Sweetest Thing, Hope Springs and Sing Street. 2. Gary Clark is an American easy-listening pianist. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
