Avondale was a Kansas City, Missouri post rock band that recorded the album "Enormous Black Power Gift" in 1999. Avondale was formed in 1998 in Kansas City, from the scene shared by Season To Risk, Shiner, Gunfighter, and a host of other bands that comprised the "Kansas City" sound. The original lineup consisted of Joe Fortunato, Gregg Todt, Matt Palubicki, and Brian Brooks. Their one and only full-length album was recorded in March of 1999 at West End Studio, and engineered/produced by Paul Malinowski (Season To Risk, Shiner, The Esoteric, The Farewell Bend) and Joel Hamilton (Glazed Baby, Shiner, JJ Paradise Player's Club, Book of Knots, Dixie Witch, Tummler). Both were in Shiner at the time. The band cited Failure, Jeff Buckley, Quicksand, The Bends-era Radiohead, and Far as major influences on their sound. Despite a good number of live dates, and having begun work on a follow-up to their debut LP, Avondale disbanded in the summer of 2000. After disbanding, Joe Fortunato joined NYC-based industrial metal band "handful of dust.", and then Cleveland, Ohio based Sundown, before forming Venomin James in 2005. Gregg Todt is the founder of Kansas City-based Federation of Horsepower and the now defunct King Suckerman. Read more on Last.fm.
