Asymmetrical Head is William Rosario. Born in Staten Island, NY. Raised in various parts of Southern California, then located to Central Florida (Davenport to be exact... about 20 miles west of Orlando), and now in Northridge, CA. William Rosario's first glimps of electronic music came in 1981 when he was attempting to breakdance with some friends in the Queensboro Bridge Projects. One of the dancers had a Ghettoblaster, and from it the sounds of Numbers/Computer World 2 by Kraftwerk was resonating. This changed young William's life forever! Throughout the 80s, he listened to listened to synth pop and industrial artists such as Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys, Joy Division/New Order, Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb and Hip Hop artists like Public Enemy, Eric B. & Rakim, Boogie Down Productions, Big Daddy Kane, NWA and so forth. Later, as the 90s approached, he delved into House Music and Techno. In 1993, he further cemented his electronic roots when he discovered Aphex Twin. That discovery opened a new portal into Abstrakt Electronic Music (basically known as IDM today, a term that many find pretenscious, but others feel there is no other way to explain it other than such). Throughout the 90s, his interest were mostly acts like The Orb, Future Sound of London, The Black Dog, Plastikman, Roni Size, DJ Food, Squarepusher, µ-ziq, Autechre, etc. The later half of the 90s, William began djing at house parties and art galleries. That lasted up until around 2002 when he and an old friend STVN started a duo called souvlakia in 2002. They released an album of Shoegazy type electronic music called "Beau" in early 2007. The tracks were recorded from 2002 to 2005. William started recording music on his own as Asymmetrical Head in 2003 when he released his first ep named "Leonard's EP". It was a 3 track 3" CD of experimental ambient music. 2004 was a pretty busy year musically for William. That year he had 5 releases including a remix compilation of other musicians interpretations of his tracks. The firsts album was released in March of 2004 entitled Tantric Abstinence EP. The ep consisted of more Down Tempo experiments. His next release was a full length called Oblique Formation. That album consisted of Ambient, IDM, and what some people would call, noise. That album inspired a remix compilation entitled Asymmetrical Head Presents: Redos Vol. 1. In October of 2004, he then released an ep called Lunar/Moon Suit EP. The ep consisted of tracks left over from the Oblique Formation recordings. In December, he released Oscile Wilde EP. It had remixes of the title track along with other recordings from the Oblique Formation sessions. Throughout 2005, William did a slew of remixes for various artists and did gigs and art galleries in the Los Angeles area. In 2006, he released an ep called Encrypted Beats. It contained tracks that focused mostly on beats with experimetations in sounds. He continued to do remixes and perform laptop dj sets at art galleries in Los Angeles. In 2007, he released a compilation of the remixes he did in the previous years simply titled Remixes 2004-2006. There is one other project William was working on with a fellow electronic music producer in South Pasadena, CA called AAART (also known as BEEX. Their project is called AAASYMM and their ep We Are Curious Yellow is out now on metropublik. William makes his living as a graphic designer being in the trade since 1997. Read more on Last.fm.
