Apocalypse Five and Dime

Apocalypse Five and Dime emerged from the Brooklyn brass scene in early 2009 and delivers both delicate, intimate tunes featuring gorgeous harmonies as well as wild, foot stomping numbers underpinned by thunderous tuba lines and fast-as-punk bass drumming. The seven piece lineup looks like a mash up between a bluegrass band and a New Orleans street outfit: banjo, fiddle, sax, trombone, ukulele, bass drum and tuba, with three members contributing vocals. Songs range in feeling and style, blending Balkan brass music, old time folk, hardcore punk and metal, early ragtime and jazz, New Orleans second line and modern dance pop. The band released a four-song EP in the summer of 2009 and released their full length debut Ballads for the End Times in the summer of 2011. They have toured frequently through the Northeast.
