Anna Murray - Anna Mhoireach Anna Murray one of Scotland's finest pipers, singers and actors. Anna will be performing at the opening night of CC 2003 in the main auditorium of the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, as part of the Scottish Women concert.Latest album is called Tri Nithean. The first one is the Gaelic women album. This album was recorded on the Greentrax record label and it features most of the top Gaelic women singers. I was lucky enough to be asked to sing on two tracks "Am Bruadar Ud a' Chunna Mi" and "Canan Nan Gaidheal". We then did a live performance at Celtic Connections in Glasgow which heralded great reviews. This lead to a Highland tour with the Gaelic women and the Scots women performing together. There is talk of further tours and the concert will be opening Celtic Connections in 2003. The second one was the Ceol Tasci Album. I sang on the final track 'Oran Chaluim Sgaire'. This album is released on Vertical Records and it is one of the albums which is close to my cd player at the moment with some wonderful piping (as usual) from Micheal McGoldrick. They are showing, again, Dotaman the Gaelic childrens programme for the BBC in Scotland which I co-present with Donnie. Anna began her acting career in 1992 as Mairead NicAsgaill in the first episode of the STV drama series ‘Machair’ and went on to feature in every one of the nine series to date of the ground-breaking Gaelic soap. She has appeared in STV’s ‘Taggart’ and in 1996 played leading roles in the Lochran/BBC productions ‘Am Posadh Hiortach’ (The St Kilda Wedding), a costume drama/documentary; and ‘A Bhean Eudach’ (The Jealous Sister), a short film screened at the 1997 Celtic Film Festival and Edinburgh Film Festival. Over the past five years Anna has presented a range of Gaelic programmes for the BBC, as well as Grampian and other independent television companies. For the BBC she has featured in the long-running pre-school children’s programme ‘Dotaman’ and ‘The Year of the Prince’ for the Around Scotland schools history series. She presented the first series of Grampian’s ‘Iobalag Obalag’ magazine for older children and Eala Bhan/STV’s light entertainment series ‘Bi-Beo’. Anna has featured as a performer as well as presenter in the Grampian music programmes ‘Fir Chlis’ and ‘Aite mo Ghaoil’, and as a musician on ‘Talla Bhaile’ (BBC), ‘Tele nan Gaidheal’ (BBC), ‘Cuin is Caite’ (STV) and ‘Tacsi’ (Eolas/STV). Anna has just finished a very busy summer. She has presented a series of the arts programme Tacsi for Eolas and BBC Scotland.
