Anders Koppel (born 1947 in Copenhagen) is a composer and musician. Played the piano as a child with his father, composer Herman D. Koppel and later clarinet with several television and concert appearances. Began playing the organ in 1966 and was a co-founder in 1967 of the rock group ’The Savage Rose’ which toured all over Europe and the USA. Since 1976, a member of the trio ’Bazaar’, which has released 9 albums. In the years 1974-80 he was very active as a producer and studio musician. Since then he has concentrated on the work as a composer alongside touring as a musician. He also plays in the trio 'Koppel-Andersen-Koppel' which includes his son, saxophone player Benjamin Koppel. Anders Koppel has composed music for 8 ballets for the ’New Danish Dance Theatre’ and music for more than 150 movies, 50 theatrical plays and 3 musicals. Anders Koppel has composed over 90 works for classical ensembles, chamber music and 20 concertos. Among them 2 saxophone concertos (recorded on CD with his son Benjamin playing the saxophone) and 4 marimba concertos which has been performed all over the world – the 4th marimba concerto was premiered at Musikverein, Vienna in November 2006. Anders Koppel has received several prizes and rewards, and the composer has twice been awarded a ’Robert’ for best film score (1994 and 1996). Read more on Last.fm.
