An Gordonach! is a Scottish-Armenian rock project based in Vanadzor, Armenia, formed in 2010. The band was formed in late summer 2010, when guitarist and vocalist Stuart Moir was introduced to the ex-PUSH guitarist Tirayr Mkhitaryan. Drummer Quake was added into the mix for the first rehearsal and the group has gone from strength to strength. An Gordonach! is indebted to the up-and-coming Armenian metal band Vordan Karmir for allowing them to rehearse in their Vanadzor studio. The band strives to create a new sound for the Armenian rock landscape, with each song possessing a different flavour, mixing Britpop, rock and Scottish and Armenian folk harmonies. “An Gordonach” is the war cry of Clan Gordon, Stuart’s ancient highland clan from Aberdeenshire. It is said that Scots and Armenians share heritage and traits, so the name represented the energy and drive of the two nations.
