Agusto Cego

Capeverdean singer Agusto Cego (born Agostinho Depina in the northern part of the Island of Fogo in a small area called Bobosso) was born seeing, and at age four began to go blind. By the time he was 14, he was completely blind. Along the way he started to learn how to play music when he was 8 and started playing at parties and local happenings very young to help support the household. He began attending the church of Nazarene where he learned how to play many instruments. He is especially known for his extra abilities with the violins, including the ones he has invented. Today he plays over 17 instruments, he's a composer, writer, vocalist and an inventor of string instruments. He has two CD's to his credit: "Bobosso" and "Borta Borta". Read more on Last.fm.
