Abomination Lucid

Abomination Lucid is a one man project recorded entirely on a home studio by the artist Kevin Cullum (Guitar, vocals, bass and drum programming respectively) who is based in Hampshire in the UK. Inspiration is derived from a wide range of music, from the crushing extremes of Napalm Death, Meshuggah and Emperor to the more melodic styles of Radiohead and Pink Floyd. Abomination Lucid's full length album 'Hope, Reason, Sanity' was finished in April 2008. The album is technical and progressive, fusing elements of a wide range of eclectic and very extreme bands. This work features unusual time signatures, sudden tempo changes, fast alternate picking and lead guitar work which varies from slow and atmospheric to chaotic and/or atonal. The vocals are either growled or distorted to add to the harsh atmosphere. Lyrically the album deals with anti-totalitarianism, the banality or folly of modern institutions, media control, the destruction of our environment, dangerous fundamentalism, political corruption and freedom of speech. Whilst the lyrics are prevalently bleak in content, the message is usually one of hope and that it is not too late to make a change. The 'Cyclopean' EP was completed in November 2008 and is available for download. It is a single track clocking in at nearly thirty-two minutes and is inspired by the works of H.P Lovecraft, both in lyrical theme and overall mood of the music. Most of the 2009/2010 material was recorded using an Ibanez eight string guitar, with the grind/death metal EP 'Excrete And Repeat' completed in 2009 and the album 'Active Aggressive' in 2010, again with a predominant death metal sound. Abomination Lucid is still comprised solely of the founding member Kevin Cullum and therefore there are no plans to play live currently. Kevin Cullum formerly played in the thrash band 'Warbound' until the group disbanded in early 2011. Read more on Last.fm.
