Miguel Zapata (Zapa) comes from A Coruña, Northern Spain. Former member of The Highlights, the spanish Bob Dylan tribute band, with which he toured intensively in 2006 when he was only 17. He started writing his own music soon after leaving the band, recording in 2007 his first demo, “Five Songs Left”. His songs, delicate and introspective, are highly influenced by the psychedelic sounds of the 60s offering “a lovely delivery of lyrics, and a softly psychedelic style that is perfect chill-out soundtrack.” (Marilyn Roxie, ‘A Future in Noise’) His particular style would attract the attention of Donovan himself, a legend of the 60s and one of Zapa’s biggest influences, who invited him to a three-day meeting in Artá, Mallorca. A free compilation, “Songs 2006-2009”, was released by the San Francisco-based label Vulpiano Records in 2009, and includes the best songs from his demos “Five Songs Left” and “Home Recordings”. He lives in London where he's currently working on his first major album. He also performs as a DJ in 1960s parties and illustrates flyers and posters for concerts. Read more on Last.fm.
