White Sands

1. If there’s one thing London loves, then it’s a super-group. Featuring Conan Roberts of Mazes, Sophy Hollington of Novella and Male Bonding’s John Arthur Webb, WHITE SANDS are the latest such project, but they bring so much to the table, we’re kind of hoping they’ll stick around for a bit. 2.Formation: Jan v. Bijnen (pedal steel, mandoline, accordion), Hans Custers (bass), Daan van Diest (drums, harp, trumpet), Pascal Hallibert (vocs, guitars), Simone Manuputty (violin, glockenspiel). Bio Brewing their very own version of Americana noir as an improbable mix between Steve Earle and Nick Drake, White Sands started as a solo project from singer/songwriter Pascal Hallibert (Grote Prijs van Nederland 2001 finalist, Templo Diez, Praise the Twilight Sparrow), quickly moving to a duo format with multi-instrumentist Hans Custers and reaching the Grote prijs van Nederland finals in late 2004. After playing Crossing Border 2005 and several dates in Canada and the USA, they released their debut EP 'Alma' in 2006, garnering great reviews from the Dutch music media. With drummer Daan van Diest completing the core lineup, White Sands evolved towards a fuller but always intimate sound, dedicated to their cinematic tales of long-gone hopes and redemption set in half-dreamt desert towns and myth-laden megalopoles. Their full-length debut CD 'Deseronto' is now available! Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
