Real name Eric Obuh; Eric was born in Nigeria. The twenty-eight year old lyricist whose real name is Eric Obuh will make his first international trip following his appearance on the controversial three part BBC documentary Welcome to Lagos which was first broadcasted to millions of British viewers on the 15th April 2010. His song Owa Yapa proved to be a hit with the production team as BBC used the song with the ending credits. All of the characters represented the very bottom of Lagos society; however their resilience and buoyancy to survive in even the most unlikely circumstances prompted an outpour of praise from viewers the following day. Owa Yapa is meant to describe someone who has become so rich – so rich that they have so much money flowing from their pocket. With his recent booking to perform at a prestigious London venue, it seems as though the life of this lucky scavenger may well be imitating art as the former viewers of Welcome to Lagos prepare to welcome one of the major characters - to London.
