Vibrasphere (1998-2010) were Rickard Berglöf and Robert Elster from Uppsala, Sweden. Genre: Progressive Trance, Psybient. They began their musical path in the mid-nineties. Rickard had a blossoming career in the very new trance scene as a member of early Goa group Subcouds and around the same time Robert was taking his first steps in musical production on his trusty Amiga-. After meeting through Rickard's younger cousin- the pair decided to enter the studio in the summer of 1998 with the creation of their project- Vibrasphere- the rest, they say, is history. They where quick to leave their mark on the scene- early releases such as the now legendary "The Open Sphere" were the beginning of the unique sound that has become synonymous with the Vibrasphere name- a sound that despite keeping up with modern production trends, has managed to retain its classic feel. The rich dub influenced soundscapes; classic trance elements, intelligent musicality and broad bass lines have never left Vibrasphere- despite their sound evolving to always keep them at the forefront of the progressive scene. Their first album- "Echo" on Spiral Trax in 2000 established Vibrasphere as one of the most in demand progressive acts in across the globe- the release is regarded as one of the albums that set progressive on its current course. Their second album "Lime Structure", released in beginning of 2003 on their current label Digital Structures- reinforced ideas explored in earlier work, but at the same time pushed the Vibrasphere sound to new frontiers and gaining a whole new generation of fans. However, the constant touring life took its toll on Robert- he decided to quit the group half a year after the release of Lime Structure. Rickard continued the act, both touring and in the studio, but increasingly as his civil career took precedence- it appeared as if Vibrasphere's days were numbered. The universe however, intervened- in 2005 Robert decided to rejoin the group-leaving Rickard still in charge of touring duties, but his return to the studio guaranteed the sound of their new album in 2006 is a return to the source for Vibrasphere fans. 2006 sees the return in full force of the duo, with a plethora of releases for Vibrasphere. An EP in March (the "Landmark EP") will present the first taster of the long awaited 3rd album- "Archipelago" on MPQDX/Digital Structures. Taking much inspiration from their natural environment, the east coast of the Baltic Sea- Archipelago is the most mature of Vibrasphere's work yet- an insight into the musical minds of 2 of progressive's most talented producers, showing the full-breadth of their now classic sound. Just as every Archipelago is made up of hundreds and hundreds of islands of different sizes and shapes- their aim was to create a release with great diversity centered around one central theme. Rickard and Robert are already working on their fourth album, which will be their first complete downbeat oriented release. The release of this album is to be expected sometime after the summer. "Exploring The Tributaries" A decade in any music industry is no mean feat in any style of music - but in electronic music, it's a proverbial lifetime. Few acts can claim this feat at all, let alone claim ten years of success - but in the European summer this year, that is what Sweden's Vibrasphere have accomplished. With their fifth and new album 'Lungs of life' on Tribal Vision, Rickard Berlglof and Robert Eslter promise a maturation of their diverse sound and another step forward for this dynamic production duo. The album features brand new studio material, from downtempo to progressive, techno and trance, including a very special collaboration with infamous Swedish project Ticon and famale vocal Irina Mikhailova. There are also two exclusive remixes included - one by Canadian house/trance masters Glenn Morrison and Bruce Aisher and the other by French tech-house duo Solead. As of 2010-11-25, Vibrasphere has disbanded. A quote from their website: "We are very sorry to inform you that we have decided to close down the Vibrasphere project.
