Hailing from Jersey, Channel Islands, Turquoise Days was formed in 1981 by Luciano Brambilla and David Le Breton. Throughout the 1980s, they self-released many cassettes, as well as the renowned masterpiece Grey Skies / Blurred 7”. They were selected for the Radio Luxembourg song contest in 1985 and received press for their releases and appearance there. Their music can be described as melodic, emotive new wave David Le Breton and Luchie met at a nightclub on the surfers beach at St. Ouens, Jersey, called "Waves" that played alternative music at a time of disco and MOR music. Luchie noticed that David had a black leather jacket with Killing Joke written on the back in white lettering, and as Luchie had a copy of their first EP on ten inch vinyl he went over and spoke to him about the band. After chatting they decided that they both had similar ideas and a passion for music and decided to get together for a jam at David's house. After a freeform jam lasting twenty minutes thru one amp with tremolo on they decided to form a band and took our name from an Echo & the Bunnymen song. At the time they had a guitar, cheap bass, some Casio keyboards (mt30 & VL Tone), a vintage microphone and some analogue effects. They decided that unlike other local bands they would perform only original music and no cover songs. they played many live gigs with our on light show and Chris Petra the sound engineer became the bass player. Initially David built his own synth a Transcendant 3000 and then they bought some Roland equipment an SH100, TR606 Drumatix and Juno 6 as well as a reel to reel Sony TC377 and recorded and released five cassettes eventually recording the single "Grey Skies", unfortunately potential follow up songs such as "Tonight", "Feed the flame", "Hide' and "Turning blue" were never released as singles. However, thanks to Veronica Vasika of Minimal Wave much has been re released on her excellent record label and is available on iTunes and vinyl through Minimal Wave records and on compilations by Stones Throw records. Luchie has put a few songs on Youtube under the Turquoise Days name (see LuchieJ or Luciano Brambilla). Read more on Last.fm.
