Tony Cox

One of SA’s best known and most respected acoustic guitarists, and one of the most active touring artists in the country. Tony Cox needs little introduction, Besides being a powerful solo performer Cox has collaborated and recorded with many other musicians, is seen as an icon, teacher and mentor to many artists in the industry, and is also a SA music award winner (2003 for ‘best instrumental’ for the album China). He fits into the cream of SA musicians and has an ability to work beyond the confines of solo guitar playing. The new album, released by the Sheer Sound label, took nearly 2 years to finish and features the Cape Town trio, Benguela, and was produced by Joe Arthur and Vic Masondo, the production team responsible for multi-platinum outfit Freshlyground.
