Tom Kaulitz, lead guitarist of Tokio Hotel, was born on September 1st, 1989 in Leipzig, Germany to Jörg and Simone Kaulitz. He is ten minutes older than his twin brother, Bill. When Tom was seven, his parents separated. His mother married Gordon Trümper soon after the divorce, and he and his brother lived with them. Gordon played a big part in the twins decision to pursue music, because he was in a band of his own called Fatun. He began playing guitar at the age of seven, and when he was nine he and his brother started performing. Tom enjoys playing video games and he also likes graffiti art (although he no longer tags). He is a big fan of hip-hop, especially German hip-hop (most notably Samy Deluxe). When he turned 18, he quickly acquired his driver’s license and bought a black Cadillac Escalade. Tom has an urban appearance. He previously had dreadlocks, but he now has cornrows. His clothes are generally American and very baggy, since he buys XXL. He also has one piercing. Tom is the most promiscuous member of the band, and is a fan of one-night stands. In early interviews, he stated that he didn’t believe in true love, but recently he has admitted that one day he might find his true love. Read more on Last.fm.
