The Tupolev Ghost were a post-hardcore band formed in Cambridge, UK. Their style was greatly influenced by the complexity of bands such as Fugazi and Faraquet along with the power and drive of Hot Snakes and Shotmaker, combined with a love for good melody. Their most recent record The Tupolev Ghost, released through UK independent Big Scary Monsters Records in spring 2009, garnered much acclaim in the UK rock music press and they were known for their intense and explosive live performances. The Tupolev Ghost formed in late 2005 as a three-piece comprising James Parrish, Ben Perry and Steven Duggins and they recorded their first demo EP Take Courage at the Sick Room in autumn 2006. In early 2007 the band expanded to four when ex-Days Ago drummer Andy Jenkin joined. The new line-up returned to the Sick Room in late 2007 to record The Alpha EP, released on Disjuncture in summer 2008. When Ben and Steven each emigrated to different parts of the world, Chris Bradshaw of Days Ago and Capitals took over on guitar and later, Ross Smithwick of Secondsmile joined on bass. The band toured Britain and Ireland during 2009 and played many festivals including Offset and No Idea's 'Fest' in Gainesville, FL. Unfortunately due to the departure of bassist Ross and shortly after, guitarist Chris, the band appeared to lose momentum resulting in their eventual break-up in December 2009. After seven years away from making music, James Parrish is now fronting the band Grieving. www.thetupolevghost.com Read more on Last.fm.
