The Timestones was the in house group of the iconic Times Square Records in the early to mid 60's in NYC. The only cut 2 perhaps 3 records on the Time Square Record Label. TSR also had a radio program on AM radio at 11PM on the weekends with a female DJ named Jenny. She played the top 100 from whatever month she was broadcasting. The owner was Irving "Slim" Rose. He, most of the time sat on a bar stool against the wall with a cig hanging out of his mouth. I have very happy memories of the dingy little store on the first level of the subway at Times Square, NYC. It was about 20 feet long and 1/2 that in width. Records hung from the walls, ceiling and boxes and boxes of pure New York Doo Wop. Ah those were the days, I thought they would never end, but they did. I have all 11 CD's of Memories of Times Square Records, Some of the songs were great, some were just OK. But they were all Doo Wop. This was the only store of it kind then that just sold one genre of music, on a Saturday afternoon you waited in line to get in. God I miss those days. Today's music sucks compared to the 50's and very early 60's. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
