Randy Frey and Chris McMillen met in film school in the midwest before embarking on the cross-country adventure to Hollywood along historic Route 66, guitars and ukulele in tow, where ultimately The Nightrats were founded in a series of cheap hotel rooms, the sounds pulled from early David Bowie and John Cale records. Time and circumstance eventually relocated The Nightrats to New York, where after gigging in some of the area's more highly-esteemed venues, good fortune placed them under the charge of Grammy-Award winner Michael Tudor, who produced The Nightrats self titled debut LP. Joining The Nightrats are long time friends James Broughel (LEVY, Rawles Balls) on guitar and Michael Jones (Senator, The Still Out) on drums. The album pulls influences from Serge Gainsbourg, David Bowie, film composer Danny Elfman, The Jesus and Mary Chain, with a knowing nod to psychedellia, the British Invasion, and classic American pop. The Nightrats dreams up haunting, sometimes whimsical melodies placed high a-top sweeping, cinematic soundscapes. The Nightrats now reside in Brooklyn, New York and are currently playing shows through out the United States. Read more on Last.fm.
