Everything started back in springtime 2001, when Mickey Evil decided to give life to a horror related punk/wave band inspired by the mixture of obscure rock and theatrical performances first created by Alice Cooper (better: Arthur Brown!) way back in the 70s. So he started writing some songs along with some lyrics regarding notorious serial killers and their way to live normal life looking through the "lens" of mental illness. While writing down some lyrics in a dirty YMCA room in Manhattan, one night he found out that the name THE MUGSHOTS perfectly fit! Actually, he was looking at a John Wayne Gacy's (the “killer clown”) mugshot when this idea struck! Onstage, THE MUGSHOTS proudly supported the likes of THE STRANGLERS, THE DAMNED, UK SUBS and THE BRIAN JAMES GANG, always getting amazing responses from the audience. Here are some “notorious” comments about THE MUGSHOTS: «Your music is too loud... please play acoustic guitar, ha ha! » Captain Sensible (THE DAMNED) «It's great! You've done a really good job with the music and the artwork, I like that whole gothic Damned/Misfits look and sound. I don't think you need any advice from me, seems like you are doing everything right already!» Tv Smith (THE ADVERTS) «I finally listened to the cd last weekend. Great art work. We all loved the record. Some of the tracks definitely sound like the Damned. Are you fans? I am. Your songs are very good and the arrangements are fine...There are some great ideas there. Keep it up!» JJ Burnel (THE STRANGLERS) «...I had the tortuous experience of listening to the whole thing again, joking...it did better and better, and the production was very good too, I love the Damned and it was in that mood, love to see you live again!» Charlie Harper (UK SUBS) «The mirror is my favorite. Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun with what you are doing. Have a great new year!» Dennis Dunaway (ALICE COOPER GROUP) «It sounds very good and scary. Let me know if you ever need help...All the best!» Daniel Rey (RAMONES and MISFITS producer) «I think it's got a lot of potential. What are you guys up to currently? Let me know» Neil Kernon (Grammy-award winner producer) http://www.lastfm.it/user/themugshots Read more on Last.fm.
