There are multiple artists named The Craftsmen: 1: Garage rock band from Ohio who released What Can We Say? in 1966. 2: The Craftsmen is the name of the house project formed in Istanbul via Miami. Turkish duo Murad L. Ozay and Cem Sarikelleoglu aka The Craftsmen have been crafting the house scene with their unique style since early 2004. Murad L Ozay, Born in Seattle Washington and raised in Istanbul-Turkey, Murad L began his musical journey DJ-ing in Tampa Florida’s thriving underground house scene. His original musical taste was based on Disco, Blues, Jazz and Funk. It was late 98 when Murad discovered a love for house music, which changed him forever. His DJ sets covered a wide variety of House styles including Deep, Tech, Disco, Jazz and Funk. Over the years he has performed for screaming crowds in Europe and US. After moving back to Miami, Murad became one of the most versatile producers in the scene; claiming respect from DJs all over the country and rest of the world. He has had productions for labels such as, Casa Del Soul, Greenhouse, Odds & Ends, Guess and compilation albums for clubs such as Cielo NY , La Playa Ibiza and annual Pacha complations under the guise of “The Craftsmen“. While living in Istanbul club scene, Cem was inspired by the top DJs and producers of Turkey like Murat Uncuoglu, DJ U.F.U.K., Tangun, DJ Met and UHR. He worked as an audio sequencing software instructor for some years and has been producing for many years with productions and remixes, He loves DJing in his bedroom and playing his Bass Guitar. He is one of the most versatile producers in Istanbul claiming respect from DJs all over the country, he has some productions for Funkfield Recordings based in Istanbul. In 2004 they teamed up with Murad L., who is a very old friend sharing the same passion for house music, to create “The Craftsmen”. Murad L has now teamed up with another fellow countryman in the form of Soydan. Hailing from Turkey via Waterford, Ireland; They burst onto the house scene last year when They launched the fresh & funky house label ‘Yakuza Recordings’, and as they say the rest is history. Mark Farina, DJ Heather, Miguel Migs and DJ Sneak have all fallen in love with Yakuza and hence the worldwide playtime received by each EP.
