Many bands have used the name The Barons (at least 12 groups from The USA). Among them: The Barons (misspelled The Barrons on a couple of singles), a New Orleans-based vocal group that recorded a series of funk and sweet soul 45s during the 60s and 70s. The group worked extensively with producer Wardell Quezerque and songwriter Joe Broussard. The group formed in the Desire projects in the mid-1960s. Founding members were James Youngblood, brothers Albert and Alvin Savoy and Lloyd Shepard. Later members included Ronnie Robertson, Clemen Smith and Carl Matthews. The Barons, A Fort Worth, Texas-based garage rock band. The Barons, a Tacoma, Washington-based doo-wop group. members included William Gold, Sterling Wilford, Carl Charles and Malcolm Parks. The group released five singles on Imperial Records in 1955 and 1956. In 1964, Imperial Records released a single 45 by a completely unrelated band also called the Barons.
