Telegraph Melts released just two 45s and one full-length on Absolutely Kosher over a too-short career. But their inventive sound paved the way for the likes of Rachel's, Godspeed You Black Emperor, Sigur Ros and other post-rock ensembles. Instrumentation consisted of amplified cello, electric guitar, and percussion. The Arlington, VA, band formed in late 1997 and broke up in May of 2000. Since the split, guitarist Bob Massey has gone on to join the Gena Rowlands Band and to compose the multi-media opera The Nitrate Hymnal while cellist Amy Domingues has played with Jenny Toomey, Fugazi, Bob Mould, and her own project Garland of Hours.
