In a previous life, Tacteel was a member of hip-hop crew ATK. With the release of his "Butter For The Fat" instrumental EP, he launched a solo career and was immediately noticed, as the strangest track of the bunch, a stuttering, arrhythmic and melodious number found its way on one of Lex Records' "Lexoleum" compilations. Involvement with hip-hop supergroup L'Atelier, where he shared production duties with Para One and James Delleck, was a change of pace. Free-flowing collaboration was the name of the game and it worked well. See here for the results. After one contribution to TTC's first LP back in 2001, his long-lasting collaboration with the rappers flourished into a handful of hard-hitting tracks on "Bâtards Sensibles", one of the most acclaimed records in France this year. And on this new effort Tacteel was much more than a beatmaker, more like a deal-maker, a tie-breaker, an idea-hustler, you get the picture. As part of the SuperFamilleConne DJ collective and as co-founder of club-hop label Institubes, he also brings his sense of purpose to other people’s music. With Fuckaloop, the live-oriented electro project he’s currently developing with Para One, he brings the breaks live to the masses, be it in Paris, Amsterdam or Tokyo. Tacteel was born into this world cursed to notice the details. So whether he’s remixing Tes or Villeneuve or bootlegging Cam'ron, working with a rapper or writing for self, expect serious quality control, absolute relevance and general joyousness.
