Stereo Summer

In today’s technology rich world, our everyday ears are jam-packed with endless amounts of music from every imaginable avenue. Finding a group of individuals with a raw passion and talent for making good music is a virtual impossibility. In September of 2007, Stereo Summer took the stage for the first time and all of that changed. Showcasing powerful, energy-laden anthems that are bursting at the seams with pop melody and enough edge to cross multiple genres, Stereo Summer captivates every member of the audience. Such was the case at their first show, and that night repeats itself in every venue they play. Forged in mid-2007 from a number of post-hardcore and indie-pop projects, Stereo Summer brings together elements that capture a wide variety of crowds. Let’s not forget that all of the members of this band stem from prior experiences which allowed them to tour from coast-to-coast and share the stage with such acts as Fall Out Boy, Fenix TX, The Matches, Armor for Sleep, Bayside, Action Action, My American Heart, Before Today, Quiet Drive, Houston Calls, Bottom Line, Underminded, and countless others. The members’ collective experience alone begs for attention. As one of their songs proclaims, “Sign us up for eternity and write our names in permanent ink.” In January of 2007, singer/guitarist Sean Tolley approached drummer and close friend Nick Callan about working on some songs together. Tolley and Callan quickly realized the chemistry between themselves, and took things to the next level in search for a guitarist. The internet proved useful, as guitarist Dave Gross was found on the ever-popular classifieds website Craigslist. The band then continued to search for a bassist, and in August 2007, mutual friend Nova Savino entered the picture in moving from Colorado to San Diego. Destiny was hard at work and the lineup was now complete. While the band’s Myspace.com account has existed since November 2005 (Tolley had planned to start “his own thing” while on tour with another band), the band had not posted anything musically until May of 2007. Since then, Stereo Summer has spent every waking moment promoting their band on Myspace, amassing over 27,000 friends in just five short months, garnering close to 40,000 plays off of the acoustic demos that were recorded at Tolley’s home with a single microphone, and even landing a spot on Steven's Untitled Rock Show (FUSE) Top Friends for three weeks. In November 2007, the band released pre-production demos to an eager audience that ate the songs up to the tune of 20,000 plays in their first month. With an in-your-face attitude and never-say-die determination, Stereo Summer has begun to capitalize on the local scene with relentless hooks and an explosive live show to become a crowd favorite everywhere.
