Sophie Sugar

'First Lady of Trance' - Armin Van Buuren, 2009 'The UK's Foremost Female Trance Producer' - DJ Mag 2009 Sophie Sugar is one of the rising stars of the global trance scene. An established international DJ in her own right and now making waves around the world as a talented and exciting producer, it is easy to see where this young lady is heading. Sophie was always a music lover - playing the piano for 8 years and collecting records from the tender age of 6! In her teens, she became involved in the club scene, fell in love with trance music and began DJing. In 2004 she was delighted to win the prestigious Gallery/DJ Magazine DJ competition. In 2005 and 2006, Sophie released the hugely successful tracks 'Call of Tomorrow' and 'Isis', on respected labels Galactive and ATCR, both of which received support from many of the world's top DJs including Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren. Her career went from strength to strength as she played to a growing worldwide fan base in areas such as Canada, Morocco, Abu Dhabi, China, Europe and at leading UK nights such as The Gallery, Serious and Passion. In 2007, 'Fallen Too Far' became an instant smash hit after being signed to Armin Van Buuren's world-renowned label Armada. The track received heavy support from the world's A list trance DJs and was featured in top 10 download charts on numerous dance music download websites. This was followed with 'Day Seven', which Armin chose to feature on 'A State of Trance 2007', 'Sense of Connection' and Sophie's very own interpretation of the Art of Trance anthem 'Madagascar'. All tracks were hugely successful, further enhancing Sophie's reputation as an exciting new producer with djs and fans worldwide and leading her to new areas across the world including a 10 date tour of Indonesia. She received continued support from the dance music press throughout the year including being featured as 'One To Watch' by Mixmag. In 2008, Sophie's name exploded with events around the world including Germany, The Czech Republic, the USA, Australia and New Zealand, the release of her incredible track 'Redemption' and the hugely successful Australian compilation 'Mixology 11'. She finished off the year in style playing to a 5,000 strong crowd in Johannesburg. 2009 has already seen the release of Sophie's incredible new vocal track 'Beside You' featuring the stunning vocals of Rebecca Emely as well as events across the globe including the legendary ASOT 400 at Air in Birmingham. The rest of the year will see further events around the world from the UK to Buenos Aires, Germany, Indonesia, Sweden, Vietnam and more! On the production front, Sugar fans can look forward to more from Sophie featuring Rebecca Emely as well as the follow up to Redemption 'Together' and a very exciting collaboration - more on that one soon! On another exiciting note, Sophie will be launching her brand new 'Symphony' radio show on di.fm in August. Just like Sophie's productions and DJ sets, the monthly show will be all about the very best in emotional, uplifting music from The First Lady of Trance.
