Many of you may have heard tunes from Houston-based production duo Sines floating around the clubs and on Sub FM; their sound has a distinctly deep and melodic atmosphere to them that reflects many of the qualities I admire in dubstep - solid, pure bass (of course)- boundary-pushing glitchplay paired with unabashed, unadulterated soul and groove. Punchy mixdowns, classy vox integrations and consistent quality are the reasons their tunes find their way into my mixes any time I feel the need to get the ladies to start squirming ;) These gnarly Texans have good ears and classy button-fingers... which is why the launching of the duo’s new label, Formant Recordings is worth keeping an ear out for.
