His friends started telling him how good he was at it, so he started writing rhymes. He even wrote during classes, hardly caring about his grades. At first, Luke would write down a title at the top of the page. Composing beats in his mind, he would just create a song almost naturally, starting out with the verse, followed by a hook. That would be a template he would go by for 4 or more years. After a while, writing rhymes in his spare time became the norm. Shun Charon started, and became a part of a view rap groups such as the Newsum Niggaz, The Almighty Battalion, and Illkinetics, in his home town, Beckley, West Virginia. They did a few shows in and out of state (NC, Ohio, and VA). As a solo artist, in 2005, Shun showcased for Universal Records in Manhattan, NY. In 2002, he performed at the Charleston, WV Multi-Fest, opening 1 show before LL Cool J. In 2000, he signed a 3-year management deal with Capital Imaging Group, which didn’t go well. He has had radio spins at over 100 college radio stations and has internet fans from California to the United Kingdom, as well as the local people showing great love. Hip Hop does not shine as bright around the West Virginia area as it does in others, but that never stopped Shun Charon from doing what he loves. Shun Charon was born in Philadelphia, PA on April 3, 1982. He remembers very vaguely at a young age living in South Philly, and listening to emcees freestyle on the corner. His mother decided Beckley was a better environment for them, and they had way more family there. His father disagreed, and after a year or so, went back to Philadelphia. They (Luke's aka Shun Charon's father and mother) had 3 children. Growing up without a father figure was tough, but the family sticking together made it work. The struggles his family went through definitely helped mold the style of his music. Shun's mother moved on to have 4 more children, totaling 7. There are 3 boys and 4 girls. He rhymes about the moment, any moment. In the beginning of his hip hop journey, if you listen to his music, you can tell where his mindset was, what his life was about.
