Royal Crescent Mob

The Royal Crescent Mob is a sloppy, white funk metal band from Columbus, Ohio. Unlike the Chili Peppers, who were the only white-funk-metal-punk point of reference in the mid-80's, the Mob were a pop and slow-funk focused band that just happened to play really loud and have a killer guitarist in B. They released albums and an EP between 86 and 94. The earliest ones "Land of Sugar," "Omerta," and "SNOB" are wonderful party records with great grooves, R&B covers, lots of feedback and stupid jokes. "Spin the World," their major label debut is polished, but still has enough pop gems to be worth a listen. Later albums declined in quality and enthusiasm. Though passable, the 1994 live album, "13 Destruction" is a disappiontment for those who witnessed the Mob's live shows during their late 80's heyday. Read more on Last.fm.
