Born in Terracina, Italy in 1967, Rosario Giuliani began studying the alto saxophone as a child. At 15 he began attending the “L. Refice Conservatory of Music in Frosinone Italy, graduating magna cum laude in 1987. By 1991, Rosario began working consistently with the television and radio orchestras of Italy’s major networks. He also has recorded numerous soundtracks for top Italian film composers, including Ennio Morricone, Gianni Ferrio, Luis Bacalov, Armando Trovalioli, Manuel De Sica and many others. One of Europe’s most respected musicians and widely considered among Italy’s best, Giuliani has won numerous European awards and honors, and has performed with top names like Kenny Wheeler, Randy Brecker, Phil Woods, Cedar Walton and countless others, as well as many of Italy’s finest jazz artists. Following up on his highly acclaimed Dreyfus debut, Luggage (2001), Rosario Giuliani’s powerful quartet returned with Mr. Dodo (2002) - eleven outstanding examples of daring, passionate and hard-swinging jazz in the post-Coltrane tradition.
