The story of "Ritmo Peligroso", goes back to 1978 when they called themselves "Dangerous Rhythm" and had a strong Punk influence, singing mostly in english and very far away from the sound that would end up giving them massive success in the mid 80's. Their first single "Electroshock", was a huge "underground' hit in Mexico and earn them the title of the First Punk Rock Band in Mexico, nobody was doing that kind of music at all... Over the years, and in the quest to consolidate their own style, the band started to sing in spanish and to mix latin and afro-cuban rhythms, with their hard drive guitars and drums. Songs like "Marielito" and "La Guerra Acaba", became hits in the mid 80's. By 1985 the popularity of this band launched them to another level, in which the "Rock Latino" or "TropiRock" style of "Ritmo Peligroso", became an influence for many other bands in Mexico, such as "Los de Abajo" or "Cafe Tacuba". In 1989 their biggest hits: "Dejala Tranquila" and "Contaminado" hit the market with huge success, all over the country of Mexico and Central and South America. As the result of this album, that same year the band toured California (USA), Guatemala and Argentina to name a few. In 1990 The song "Contaminado" was chosen by the government of Mexico City as the anthem in their campaign to fight pollution in the Metropoliatn Area. Through the years "Ritmo Peligroso"has shared stages with such acts as: "Tower of Power", "Fito Paez", "El Tri", "Jaguares","Carlos Santana","El Gran Combo","Miguel Rios" "Charly Garcia" and "Julieta Venegas" to mention a few.Their last recording "Matacandela", was recorded in 2001, and produced by the very talented Sabo Romo (Bass player for Ruido Blanco,Caifanes, Jaguares and many more) and co-produced by Piro and Avi Michel, this CD shows the freshness and maturity of a band that never stopped searching for new ways of re-inveting themselves.
