There are six groups that have performed under the name "Redwood." In chronological order, they are: 1.) Redwood was the name under which an early version of Three Dog Night recorded demo material with Brian Wilson in 1967. 2.) A second Redwood hails from Guildford, UK. (Active: 1989 - present; band webpage http://www.redwood.org.uk) The Guildford-based band released their first self financed album Slow Train in 1989. This was followed by Head (including the fave live track "Sad Sick World") and many more albums followed eventually building to a signing with US label Almo Sounds (offshoot of A&M records) in 1997. An album Colourblind closely followed, produced by Mark Wallis (U2), with many singles, videos, tours and all things rock n roll. Following the collapse of Almo Sounds a few years later the band continued to release their own music once again (the Lazydog EP), and are still writing and playing (although the gigs tend to be once a year now). A collection of B-sides and unreleased tracks was in the pipeline for 2007. 3.) The most recent Redwood band to use the name is based in Switzerland. (Active: 1997 - present; band webpage http://www.redwood.ch) From 1997 to 1998 the Swiss band toured and entered band competitions. In 1999, they recorded a demo for their fans. This was followed by a five track EP and a club tour of the USA in 2000. In 2002-2003, they recorded their debut album with the producing team of Horstmann and Meinen at M-Box Studios in Germany. It was mixed by Joe Barresi (Skunk Anansie, Queens Of The Stone Age, Pennywise, Hole, etc.). REDWOOD plays a sold out "Abart 5" gig at the Volkshaus in Zurich. The album, entitled Everything Under the Sun was released on March 8th 2004 After a few years of more touring, in 2007 they released their album We're All Gonna Die. 4.) REDWOOD is a hardcore band from Stoughton, MA. They recorded their first EP, Common Ground in the fall of 2012 with Mike Moschetto of The Office Recording. 5.) Another artist to use this name, is based in Antwerp, Belgium. Marlon Sinnaeve, also acting under the name Redwood, has released an EP called Elementary in the fall of 2013 and is recording a second EP at present. https://soundcloud.com/marlonsinnaeve) 6.) Redwood are a dynamic 5-piece alternative rock outfit from Hertfordshire UK. Drawing influence from genres such as emo and post-rock, they combine delicate melodies and thought provoking lyrics over shimmering, intricate guitar lines with powerful chorus’ and explosive endings. Their live show is truly something to behold; energetic, atmospheric, dynamic and powerful. Since releasing their debut EP 'Blood Moon' the band have appeared on stage with the likes of From Indian Lakes, Totorro, Fish Tank, Ducking Punches, Sam Duckworth (Recreations) and Yearbook to name but a few. They have been championed on Kerrang! Radio by Alex Baker and received critical acclaim from some of the best known and respected alternative music publications. The Band have accomplished 4 UK Tours and a mainland Europe Tour, with plans for a new release, 2018 is set to be a great year for Redwood. Read more on Last.fm.
