Having known each other in High School, the band quickly gelled and began forming what is now a unique and highly developed sound. Redmore have supported top New Zealand acts such as Eight, Opshop, 48May, Steriogram, Blindspott, The Feelers and Goodnight Nurse and have quickly garnered the experience necessary to present a polished and entertaining show to their audiences. They now hold a place in the upper echelon of New Zealand rock acts and enjoy success wherever they play. In November 2004 Redmore won the Coke Launchpad competition which enables them to release a single and video with assistance from Satellite Media and funding from Coke and The Edge radio station. The single, By My Side, has been re-recorded with acclaimed producer Malcolm Welsford. Redmore create rock songs that focus both on dynamic structure and vocal melody. They endeavor to keep each song unique without their sound becoming eclectic, thus the band’s sound can range from being light and moody to rhythmic and heavy. Redmore’s initial years were a developmental time for the band. Writing and recording dominated their time as they finished their tertiary qualifications at which point the band started gigging around the North Island of New Zealand to welcoming crowds. It was a lucky break that brought the band out of the practice room and into the live scene of New Zealand. Until early 2004 Redmore did not own professional gear but all that changed when bassist Patrick successfully appeared on national television in the quiz show Captive. Patrick, full of wit and a surprising amount of intelligence, made enough money from the show to help fund new gear and so enable the band to start gigging regularly. Each member of the band is involved in the arts and media industries of New Zealand. Vocalist Jeremy works as a sports journalist for TVNZ. Patrick, the bass player, works as a radio DJ for More FM. Both guitarist Jason and Bevan, the drummer, are graphic designers. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
