Raymond Herrera (born Monday, December 18, 1972), is a musician and the drummer/one of the original members of the Industrial metal band Fear Factory. His drumming is considered to be a large part of Fear Factory's appeal to fans and is also known to use triggers on his drum set. While he is praised for his drumming, his usage of triggers has been criticized by some who feel he is cheating the often high sounding speed. However, the reason Herrera uses the triggers is because when he plays fast the sound can become muffled, the triggers are used to alter the drum sound so that they are heard clearly but Raymond is still doing all the drumming. Another reason for Herrera's "machine"-like drumming is that he plays differently from other drummers of the same genre. He uses more of a stop-go technique for his double bass rather than the usual flooring style that is popular with other drummers. A good example of this style can be heard on the Fear Factory songs "Securitron (Police State 2000)" and "No One". * He appeared on an episode of the G4 show Attack of the Show, in which he had a "drum-off" with one host, Kevin Pereira. * Raymond has been a hardcore gamer all his life. His passion for computer games led him to create a company called 3volution Productions, a company that produces original songs, remixes, ambient sounds and voice-overs for computer games. * Raymond Herrera recorded drum tracks for music featured in the independent film comedy "The Unlovable Losers" produced by Mindless Films Production Read more on Last.fm.
