The group Puppetz is a new - rock band from Krsko and Novo Mesto (Slovenia). In 2002, guitarist Nejc Skafar, bassist Jani Kovacec and drummer Blaz Sotosek combined their powers in search of a singer who could fulfill their music with melodic vocal. They soon found an exceptional vocalist Bojan Pahljina. At first they were playing songs of famous foreign bands but eventually they decided to write their own songs and introduce them to the public. After a few successful concerts they were surprised by the positive feedback and even more surprised when they won a tour across Slovenia in their first competition for unknown bands at the “Rdeca Ostriga” Club in Skofja Loka. But the guys decided to take one step further and invited a guitarist Miha Mocnik who spiced up their music with a touch of "rock and roll". Their greatest achievement has to be the second place at the Newcomer 2006 competition, where more than 100 groups from all over Europe tried to win a contract with a famous record label. They were selected the best group of the evening and their drummer Blaz was crowned the best drummer of the competition. Although the guys decided not to participate in such competitions anymore, they did however apply for the Coca - Cola project Band Startup 2007. Their decision based purely on getting additional publicity before their first album comes out in 2008. They won a shooting of a video to accompany the new album and its 12 songs.
