There are two acts called "Prime Minister"; one from the USA and one from Russia. 1) Prime Minister whose real name is Andre Ford was born on February 13, 1970 in Rockford, Illinois. He has been Christian rap/hip-hop artist since the 1990s. In the 1600s Prime Minister meant "one sent from the king to spread the word from the king to the people". Prime Minister says that "he (Prime Minister) is sent from his God to spread a word to his people" and that is why is calls himself Prime Minister. Prime Minister/Andre Ford grew up as a Chicago gangster. He was tried for murder and spent some time in jail. After being released from prison he started rapping in 1986 doing acts with artists like Bobby Brown, Ice Cube and the Geto Boys. Upon becoming a Christian he continued rapping as a Christian rapper. He took top honors in a series of contests and won the local RAMA Award for Best Rap/Hip-Hop artist in 1996 and 1997. Prime Minister often plays with Antonious, Pooh, FTF and MC Hammer. His first album, Prime Time was released in 1998 as part of the Grapetree label. 2) Premier Ministr is a Russian so-called boy band. The idea behind the band is to form a boyband, not especially for teenagers. Four men came together to form Premier Ministr in 1997. Their first real success came in 2000 with the remake of a very popular Russian tune, "Oriental Song". It became a huge hit in Russia. In 2001 one of the members, Dmitry Lansky, left the group for a solo career and was replaced. Premier Ministr now exists of Jean Grigoriev-Milimerov ( Moscow, December 5 1979), Peter Jason (Moscow, September 9 1979), Vyacheslav Bodolika (Ungeny, Moldavia, June 18 1977) and Marat Chanyshev (Moscow, March 25 1975. In 2002 Russian television invited the group to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest. They translated their name into Prime Minister.
