Phineas & The Ferbtones, also known as PFT, is a band formed in Danville, USA in 2008. Consisting of lead singer and guitarist Phineas Flynn, Ferb Fletcher on keys and rhythm section, supported by backup singers the Ferbtones. Their lyrics are written predominantly by Phineas, giving them that nonsensical quality that’s so characteristic of PFT. Melodies and arrangements are composed by Ferb, in which his English heritage can clearly be heard with his catchy, upbeat tunes that are reminiscent of the Britpop of the previous generation. This one hit wonder reached the heights of success with previously unimaginable speed. That’s not to say it was easy; it took most of the morning and half a dozen phone calls, but with their hit single ‘Gitchee Gitchee Goo’ they managed to reach the top of the charts, where they remained for eight consecutive minutes (to this day a record only surpassed by Love Handel) During their peak group disbanded in 2008. Due to, among other reasons, arguments between label management and front man Phineas over creative differences. PFT denies that a conflict with sister and guest singer Candace had any influence in their breaking up, but Candace to this day claims that “they were so busted”. Though all members continue to perform solo, the group is no longer active. However their song can still be heard in many a elevator. As part of their reunion tour the band has made a re-recording of ‘Gitchee Gitchee Goo’ in cooperation with Candace. This version has been voted #1 in the Musical Cliptastic Countdown.
