Peter Schaap

Peter Schaap (24 october 1946) is a Dutch singer/songwriter. Peter Schaap was born in Groningen. He went to college in Groningen where he majored in pedagogic studies. He than became a teacher at a grammar school. During his study and later on in his career as a teacher he sang and wrote chansons under his alias Peter Andreas. Under his own name he began his professional career. His style went from chansons to more poular music and he recorded 4 albums and a compilation album, among his greatest hits were, Adem Mijn Adem, De Hoge Heren Van Het Dorp and Vliegen Als Een Vogel. He won a 'Zilveren Harp"in 1976, a Dutch music award. From 1982 on his major effort consurned writing, at first his focus was on children books but later on he began writing sf en fantasy novelles, among his best known booktitles is 'Valley of the Ghosts' (De vallei van de geesten) Adem Mijn Adem is still a Dutch classic which has a steady possition in the anual Dutch all time favorit list of Dutch radio 2 known as The Top 2000.
