ORISHA WEBSITE Orisha on Youtube Orisha on Facebook Orisha on Twitter Orisha on Myspace The ongoing and always evolving Orisha project blends dub, industrial, drum'n'bass, with lush vocals, classical and trip-hop. Emah Fox (Vocals, Keyboards, Programming) is the project's songwriter, mainstay and driving force. Orisha began as a studio collaboration between singer/songwriter Fox and programmers Shane Kavanagh and Dean Lusher, formerly known as MPI (Modified Perception Industries). Together they wrote and recorded the debut Orisha self-titled album, released on the sounds for space label, which received extensive airplay across Australia, Europe and America, garnering rave reviews. 'Falling Open', the second Orisha album (this time without Lusher's involvement) was, like the first, almost purely programmed with the exception of Emah's vocals. The studio recording completed, Kavanagh also left the Orisha fold, and Emah set about developing Orisha into a live band, retaining the electronics of the studio recordings while incorporating live instruments such as keyboards, double bass, viola and tuned percussion. Musicians who have played in Orisha include Mark Cauvin (double bass), Amy Valent (Marimba, Percussion, Flute), Chriss Jonas (Keyboards) and Jarrod Ross (Bass). Update: October 2009 Emah recently collaborated with Dj Spooky on a track for his album 'The Secret Song' (Oct 2009) and has been touring the U.S. and Europe playing a string of solo shows. She returns to Australia next month to begin work on a third album. Read more on Last.fm. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
