Obsesión is a pioneer Cuban Hip Hop group born on June 25, 1996 with the purpose of making hip hop a solid musical genre inside Cuban culture. Now part of the vanguard of Cuban rap music; their lyrics define the Cuba as a social being, and their texts range from love, in all its dimenions, to the most polemic of social and political issues. Obsesion has performed in UK, France, Venezuela, Canada and the US. In 2003, they embarked on a month-long tour of the United States, culminating in a performance at Appolo theatre in New-York City, in collaboration with The Roots. Obsesion also works on a social level with various community organizations in Cuba with whom they have held workshops in various cultural centres and jails.
