Barbershop quartet from Orange County. The music of OC Times is inspired by artists like Michael Bublé, Sinatra, and Elvis. This young, energetic group breathes new life into some of our favorite swing standards and rock 'n roll classics. Hailing from Orange County, California, OC Times brings something new to the table: traditional barbershop harmony, influenced by jazz and swing, stylized by pop-culture. This quartet's fresh style, repertoire, and sound naturally appeals to the youth, while paying tribute to the past. OC Times is proud to have won a 2008 CARA (Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award) for Best Barbershop Album (Let's Fly), and Best Barbershop Song (Love Me). The awards are sponsored by CASA (Contemporary A cappella Society of America) Shawn York - Tenor Originally from Rescue, California, Shawn resides in south Corona, CA. He began singing barbershop shortly after seeing a bumper sticker that read “Want to sing barbershop? Call 1-800-876-SING”. The rest is history. Shawn earned his bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Vanguard University, and currently owns and operates a Chick-fil-A restaurant in south Corona. Whenever they get the opportunity, Shawn and his lovely Hawaiian wife Lani enjoy vacations to Oahu, HI. Sean Devine - Lead Currently living in Huntington Beach, CA, Sean comes to us from "The Sweetest Place on Earth", Hershey, PA. In 2001 he moved out west to pursue a career in music, performing full-time with a professional doo-wop group, The Alley Cats. Sean is currently finishing up his degree in Organizational Leadership at Azusa Pacific University. Cory Hunt – Bass Cory is our long distance member, commuting all the way from the gem of the Silver State, Reno, Nevada. He is the “biggest little bass in the Society”, and pound for pound, Cory just might be the best there is! A senior at the University of Nevada, Reno, he is pursuing dual degrees in Political Science and Cultural Geography. Cory also enjoys winning football and softball championships with his four college roommates and spending time with his family. Patrick Claypool – Baritone Our only native to Orange County, Pat was born and raised in the city of Orange. He was introduced to barbershop at age 12, joining his grandfather in the Orange Quartet Chapter. Pat has yet to finish (or even start) college, although he frequently boasts of the honor roll status he achieved throughout his high school years. He is currently employed as a server at The Yard House in Costa Mesa, where he provides ‘unbridled’ guest service and requests that you ask for him by name for your dining pleasure.
