My Name is Legion is a dark soul with a neon-coloured heart. The man behind the name is the 25-year-old Dane Rasmus Poulsen, and this is his love letter to both gloomy, introvert electronic music and glitzy techno anthems. After spending two years kicking up a row in the Danish electronic underground, My Name is Legion recently released the debut Soldiers EP. The Music Like in odd marriage between Thom Yorke and DJ Tïesto, My Name is Legion is neon coloured glowstick-techno, dressed in dark, melancholic soundscapes and melodic, expressive vocals. After spending the winter 2009/10 recording, producing and mixing in an old, underground air-raid shelter, My Name is Legion released the 1st single A Dark Side to Beauty in Spring 2010. It immediately attracted the attention of fans and media, and was shortly after put in rotation on influential Danish national radio station P3. After doing shows across Denmark in the following months, My Name is Legion released Soldiers EP at a spectacular, sold-out release event in September 2010. It was later followed up by more airplay from some of Denmark’s top radio DJ’s. All songs from Soldiers EP are available for stream on My Name is Legion sites, and can also be downloaded on iTunes. The Mission While techno, in its nature, often lack human presence, My Name is Legion is on a mission to do exactly the opposite - to humanize it. By letting lyrics, melody and the human voice become the driving force in the songs, My Name is Legion aims to speak to both weary hearts and dancing feet. Rasmus’ addiction to epic trance-anthems, dance music and catchy choruses is easily heard, but underneath the glittery and almost tasteless surface, lies a dark and noisy past in shoegaze, indie and postrock. It is in between the darkness and the bright neon-coloured light, that My Name is Legion is born. The debut album is right now in the making, and the first sounds are expected to be out in Spring 2011. Copenhagen Collective My Name is Legion is also part of newly founded Danish blog- and band-collective Copenhagen Collective, which features critically acclaimed bands such as Sleep Party People, Alcoholic Faith Mission and CODY. Band members from the latter two also appear on Soldiers EP, and both Sleep Party People and Alcoholic Faith Mission has been under the My Name is Legion remix-knife. Live In concert, the sonic blasts from My Name is Legion’s bedroom productions, transforms into an energetic, glowstick-throwing five-piece band, with electronic live-drums, keytar, analog synthesizers, sample-pads, bass-guitar and Rasmus’ desperate vocals in front. Insisting on playing most of the instruments live on stage, My Name is Legion is slowly building a reputation as an energetic, give-it-all live-act. Info My Name is Legion live, besides Rasmus Poulsen (vox), are: Jonas Kristiansen (drums, mac), Mikkel Ejstrup (bass), Morten Øhlenschlæger (synth/keytar) & Lil Lacy (synth/samples, vox). www.mynameislegion.dk www.myspace.com/mynameislegiondk www.soundcloud.com/mynameislegion Read more on Last.fm.
