Mutlu Torun

Mutlu Torun (b. 1942) is a Turkish musician (playing oud and guitar), singer, and composer. Born in Ankara, he studied architecture at the Istanbul State Fine Arts Academy. He started learning to play the oud in 1968 at the Music School of Istanbul. His talentwas quickly revealed, and from 1975 to 1981 he played with the municipal orchestra of Istanbul. He studied old songs and wrote out more than a hundred of them using modern methods of scoring. In 1977 he composed a hundred songs and in 1978 two hundred more, which he gave to many musicians. He composed single and multi-voice pieces in several forms, such as Mevlevi worship, hymns, instrumental works, songs, film soundtracks, and advertising. He is a follower of Serif Muhittin Targan. He has been a faculty member of Istanbul Technical University, Turkish Music State Conservatory, and is now a lecturer at Haliç University Turkish Music Conservatory. Read more on Last.fm.
